The Aussie ecommerce scene is booming.

According to the Australia Post eCommerce Report 2026, Australians spent $82.6 billion online in 2025, with online now accounting for 24% of all retail spend. A record 9.8 million households shopped online last year, and 41% of them are doing it at least fortnightly.

Queensland accelerated particularly hard in 2025, with Coles and Woolworths extending dark-store coverage to Brisbane and the Gold Coast, pulling more retail dollars into the digital and omnichannel ecosystem.

For founders in Brisbane building product brands, that momentum raises a very specific question: what comes after the Shopify traction, and how does it translate to getting on shelf.

That’s exactly what the Forefront’s event in April is designed to answer.

Landing on supermarket shelves isn’t just about having a great product. Buyers speak a completely different language and most founders never learn it.

On the night, co-founder and co-CEO of I Am Grounded, Vanessa Murillo Vargas, will lead a two-hour hands-on workshop specifically built for founders who want to become retail-ready. I Am Grounded has gone from concept to national ranging, securing distribution across 1,000+ retail locations including Woolworths. Vanessa has been in the room with buyers. She knows what they’re looking for and, more importantly, what they never say out loud.

The session covers retailer economics, category management criteria, and how to translate DTC performance into a pitch buyers respond to. Attendees will also work through pricing structure and the psychology behind how buyers make decisions, knowledge most founders only come across after a deal falls through.

The workshop takes place on April 29 at 4PM at The Forefront. For founders still figuring out product-market fit or those with existing customers ready for the next stage of growth, this is a great opportunity to get retail-ready.
